  1. As they should say, but probably don't, "Wide mind, narrow boat." In fact there is probably an inverse correlation between capacity for thought and hull girth, meaning that canoeists are probably by definition philosophers, whereas the captains of cruise liners border on the imbecilic (see recent disaster) - please research this thoroughly on your travels and report in detail. I trust you have read Joshua Slocum on how to repel boarders with carpet tacks and a blunderbus? Could come in useful on some of our inner city waterways. Is zero a nautical term?
